SAN  FRANCISCO, CA -- The Tax Cannabis  2010 campaign kicked off its statewide signature gathering efforts today at a  press conference at the NORML (National Organization for the Reform of  Marijuana Laws) Convention in San  Francisco.

Proponents of the campaign to  legalize, tax, and regulate cannabis (marijuana) in California, announced that they will begin gathering the  433,000 signatures of registered California voters necessary to qualify the  initiative for the November 2010 statewide ballot. Those who spoke on  behalf of the initiative at today’s press conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel  included Mason Tvert, co-author of the book Marijuana is Safer, and Tax Cannabis  2010 proponents Richard Lee and Jeff Jones. Former California State Senate President Pro Tem Don  Perata was scheduled to appear, but had a last minute personal matter to  attend to. Perata released the following statement in support of the  initiative:

"The economy and the state budget are top concerns for  Californians. We can
’t fund what matters most: jobs, healthcare, education,  state parks, roads, transportation, environmental protection. It’s all on the  chopping block, but doesn’t need to be.

"In this time of economic  uncertainty, it's time we thought outside the box, and brought in revenue we  need to restore the California Dream.

"This is California. We are the future. We are the cutting edge. In California, we have an  opportunity, with this initiative, to stand up for a common sense policy, and  to set an example for the rest of the country and the world. It’s time to  reform our cannabis laws, and California is the perfect place to do  it."

The Tax Cannabis 2010 initiative will regulate cannabis like  alcohol, allowing adults 21 and older to possess up to one ounce of cannabis,  give local governments the ability to tax and regulate the sale of cannabis to  adults, and generate billions of dollars in much needed revenue for the state  of California. The initiative will also help  keep cannabis out of the hands of minors, by increasing the penalty for  selling to anyone under 21.

Recent polls show a majority of  Californians are ready to legalize, tax, and regulate cannabis, and the  campaign has already received strong grassroots support from up and down the  state.

Over 1,000 volunteers have already signed up on the campaign  website, _www.taxcannabis.org_ (http://www.taxcannabis.org/) , and  the campaign is signing up hundreds more at weekly volunteer meetings  throughout California. The Tax Cannabis 2010  campaign has hired a top signature gathering firm, Masterton and Wright, which  has a perfect record of qualifying statewide initiatives for the ballot in  California.  The team will now have 150 days to secure the 433,000 signatures of registered  California  voters needed to qualify for the November 2010  ballot.

Sarah Diesel's 2010 Pin Ups for Patients Calendar debuts at the Patient ID Center (LA and Oakland) and in Los Angeles medical cannabis collectives this week. Featuring the most beautiful women from a wide spectrum of California's medical cannabis patients, the calendar has been an evolving project since the inception of Los Angeles's medical cannabis collectives.

"Everyone involved in this calendar is a patient," says Sarah, "from the models to the photographer." Patrons at the THC Expo in June got a sneak peak at a few of the gorgeous "girls" featured in the calendar. " The models are really beautiful too!" Sarah added.

Proceeds from Sarah Diesel's 2010 Pin Ups for Patients Calendar will benefit two medical  cannabis organizations: Americans For Safe Access (ASA) and The Greater Los Angeles Collectives Alliance (GLACA). Proceeds will also be donated to research foundations for Ovarian Cancer and Breast Cancer.

                                                               Part 6 9:45:59 am : Where is Kinko's?

So this is the point where a bit of panic set in a bit as we really were missing some key items. Remember everyone, no matter where you are going and why.....bring zip ties. You will need them, just put them in the car. Needless to say Iphone comes through again and we mapped out a kinko's but it was only 15 minutes till hempfest opened. Dev and I took off in the car and with people everywhere, that was fun. When we got near the street we see a massive line of people anxious to get in. What a sight!

What's up everyone, just got back from camping with my family at Hunnington Lake. Typing with one hand because I cut my pinky finger cleaning fish. Had an excellent trip went hiking with my oldest daughter and 3 nieces and we got some beautiful pics of mountain streams and little waterfalls and pools and such. My uncles just harvested so we were well stocked for the weekend, and I got to try a new strain they have been perfecting for the ast 2 years.  Really good to get away.

420

I'm so far beyond "getting high".  I don't think "stoned"  applies either.  Perhaps lifted would be slightly more appropriate, and yet even that doesn't seem to suffice.  I can only describe my lifestyle as "420".

More than a time of day, or a holiday to celebrate, 420 is a way of life.  It's medicine to the sick, calm to turmoil, relief to distress, it is a way that I have chosen to live....Lifted...above the everyday hypocrisies, peaceful, in my own bliss, enhanced by a gift from GOD, that grows anywhere, and anytime, in any condition...if allowed.

Doctors don't hesitate to prescribe aspirin..it makes the walls of your stomach bleed...but when it comes to marijuana.......Let your voices be heard, make your life count.

5:00 am Hempfest Day 1: NEED MORE COFFEE

No REEEAAALLLYYYY. I have never liked coffee too much, except during that part of my life where I liked to go to denny's after drinking and hit up coffee and smokes. I don't smoke anymore and cannot afford to go to bars so it works out that way. You figure though, if you were to start liking said drink again, Seattle might just be that place.

WORDS FROM PS4L

anthony

I lived  in Southern California All my life and must say its the most liberal state iv'e been. I would say i had a normal mexican-american childhood. I think that we are going in the right directions but we need just more people to stand up and say whats right fare and not fare. Im at home right now just a normal day.  i woke up did some laundry and cleaned up house a normal everyday thing. Ive had a couple beers now and smoked a couple leafs. and just relaxin on my day off. then my nehphew comes in and tells me someone was stopped by a policeman. There right in front of my house,  just because i smoked something natural that comes from mother earth the government is making me feel uncomfortable about iy what i like to enjoy. WE need to really look into making CALIFORNIA a place where you dont feel uncomforatable doin something thats completley harmless and come from the earth.
